About

Who is Sarah?

That is me! I’m Sarah! Hello, nice to meet you. I am 27 years old and I currently live on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Scotland with my partner and our two pets. I work full time for the NHS although I spend most of my time thinking about cake (I mean who doesn’t let’s be honest). And to be honest I am absolutely rubbish at writing about myself sooo let’s move on!

What is A Spoonful of Vanilla?

I have loved baking for as long as I can remember. One of my earliest memories is baking fairy cakes with my mum, from a cookbook I still own today. Over the years I have baked as a hobby, learning from online tutorials, other bloggers and trial and error.

In 2020 I decided to create A Spoonful of Vanilla. Named because I literally add a spoonful of vanilla to everything I bake!

I wanted to create a space to share recipes that can be baked and enjoyed in your home. I love experimenting with different bakes and flavours and I want to give you the confidence to try that too.

With each recipe, I always try and go into as much detail as possible. Whether it is your first time baking or you are trying something new I want you to be confident that you are doing everything correctly.

All the recipes on A Spoonful of Vanilla can be baked by everyone no matter your level of experience.

What am I Doing Now?

Since 2020 A Spoonful of Vanilla has grown more than I could have ever hoped. I now have over 150 recipes covering everything sweet and delicious.

You can find my recipes in Baking Heaven Magazine each month as well as recipe tutorials on my YouTube and TikTok pages.

I have worked with some incredible brands including, the one who inspired this blog, Nielson Massey! I have also worked with Lily O’Brien, Bakedin, BadBrownies and so many more.

Alongside all of this, I have also set up a Patreon account. There are so many different benefits to this including becoming an Official Taste Tester, getting access to monthly baking lessons, baking tutorials, hints and tips and so much more. You can subscribe monthly depending on what you want and need, there is no sign-up fee and you can cancel at any time.

What’s Next?

There is still so much more to come. I am so excited about some of the exciting projects I have going on behind the scenes. I don’t want to spoil them too much but trust me they are big! They are going to help improve your baking and confidence in the kitchen and I cannot wait to share them with you!
