Easter Nests
I already have a recipe on my blog for Easter Nest Cupcakes, and they are super popular at Easter. So, I thought I would share just the nest part of the recipe.
They are so easy to make. You only need five basic ingredients: chocolate, golden syrup, butter, cereal, and some mini-Easter Eggs.
I used cornflakes as my cereal in this recipe, but you could use rice krispies or even coco pops if you wanted to make these extra chocolatey.

Chocolate
I went with the classic milk chocolate for this recipe, but you can use dark chocolate or a combination of milk and dark chocolate.
The milk chocolate I used was just a supermarket’s own brand one, I didn’t use anything fancy or expensive and these Easter Nests turned out delicious. Depending on your budget though and your preference any brand or unbranded chocolate will be absolutely perfect.

Easter Chocolate
I went with a mixture of Mini Easter eggs. At this time of year, there are absolutely hundreds of different options. I used Smartie Mini Eggs and Milkybar Mini Eggs. You could use all the same types of Mini Eggs if you want or mix it up with a combination like I have done.
Any type of Mini Egg will work perfectly on these Easter Nests you could use classic Mini Eggs, Mini Creme Eggs, Terry’s Chocolate Orange Mini Eggs, KitKat Mini Eggs, or M&M Eggs, the options are honestly endless.
Recipe
As I said above this recipe only requires five ingredients.
Chocolate – I used a supermarket’s own brand of milk chocolate, but you could use dark chocolate if you prefer or a combination of milk and dark chocolate.
Butter – You need to use a block of butter for this recipe. The type that normally comes in 250g blocks wrapped in foil. I wouldn’t recommend using a spread or margarine as these can split too easily.
Related Recipes
Syrup – I use golden syrup in this recipe, mixed with the butter it helps to make the chocolate extra sweet and slightly creamy. It also helps stop the chocolate from setting too hard.
Cereal – I used Cornflakes in this recipe, but you could use Rice Krispies, Coco Pops, Frosties or even crushed Shredded Wheat.
Mini Eggs – The options are endless. You can use just your favourite eggs or a combination of different ones.

Tips and Tricks
I used these Baking Cups and pressed the mixture into the bottom of them. I pressed them down slightly in the middle so that the sides were higher to create a nest shape.
If the mixture splits it is because it has been heated too long or at too high a temperature. When the butter and golden syrup are melted together I recommend doing it on a low heat. If your mixture has split remove from the heat and add a tablespoon of whole milk or double cream. Mix this through and the mixture should come back.

Alternatives
You can use either milk or dark chocolate in this recipe. Or a combination of both.
You can also use any type of Mini Eggs you want too.

Easter Nests
Ingredients
For the Easter Nests
- 50 g Golden Syrup
- 50 g Unsalted Butter
- 350 g Milk Chocolate
- 200 g Cornflakes
- Mini Eggs
Instructions
To Make the Easter Nests
- Line a cupcake tin with your cupcake liners and leave to one side.
- Add the golden syrup and unsalted butter to a pan and melt on a low heat, stirring continuously.
- Take the pan off the heat and add in the chocolate. Mix until the chocolate has melted completely.
- Add the cornflakes to a large bowl and pour over the chocolate mixture. Mix the two together until the cornflakes are completely coated in the chocolate.
- Divide the mixture between your 12 cupcake cases creating a well in the centre of each nest.
- Add the mini eggs to the centre of the nests. Put the nests in the fridge until the chocolate has set.
Notes
- These Easter Nests will last up to 7 days in an airtight container.
- I use these Baking Cups to hold my Easter Nests until the chocolate sets. It just helps them keep their shape.
- I used Smarties and Milkybar Mini Eggs, but you can use any mini eggs.
- While you can use either milk or dark chocolate in this recipe, I wouldn’t recommend using white chocolate. It doesn’t tend to mix well with the golden syrup and butter. If you wanted to use white chocolate, just melt the chocolate and add the cereal. You don’t need to add anything else.
- I used Cornflakes in this recipe, but you can use any type of cereal you want.
